San Diego Lab Worker Injured in Chemical Accident

A lab worker in San Diego was injured recently when a test tube broke during a chemical-mixing process, according to a recent report from NBC San Diego.

The lab worker was mixing hot and cold chemical substances together when the test tube he was using shattered, inflicting facial injuries with flying glass and chemicals.  Rescue workers were called to the scene to help the lab worker.  His current medical condition is not currently known, but rescue workers did not describe his injuries as life-threatening.

Many workplaces pose known dangers, and employers frequently provide protective gear, training, and other tools to help workers avoid injuries. In a laboratory setting, for instance, lab workers often wear lab coats, face protection, and gloves. They may use vent hoods and other tools to help protect them from known dangers, as well.

Despite these precautions, not all injuries can be avoided.  When a tool, substance, or piece of equipment used on the job was defectively manufactured or designed, it may pose hidden dangers that users can neither predict nor guard against. When a hidden danger arises from a defect, a person injured by the defect may seek compensation from the manufacturer or designer.

Workplace injuries can easily result from improper or defective chemicals, defective equipment, or other hidden dangers in products used on the job. If you’ve been injured by a defective product, don’t hesitate to contact the focused San Diego product defect injury attorneys at Jurewitz Law Group.
