Man reportedly smashes into car, high school fence while intoxicated

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities are searching for a man believed to have crashed through a high school fence in the Lincoln Park area while under the influence on Friday night.

According to the Times of San Diego, the crash occurred near Lincoln High School, which is located at 4777 Imperial Avenue, at about 8:25 p.m., when the driver of a white Ford pickup truck crashed into a parked vehicle, and then into sturdy fencing around the high school.

The driver, described as acting suspiciously and as though intoxicated, then fled the scene on foot.

Authorities continue to search for him at this time.

No injuries were immediately reported from the crash.

35-year-old pedestrian fatally struck by car in Oceanside intersection

OCEANSIDE, CA – A 35-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while he was crossing an intersection in Oceanside on Friday night, according to the Times of San Diego.

The accident occurred in the 4100 block of Oceanside Boulevard at 8:22 p.m., when a 35-year-old man who was walking across the street was struck by a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old woman.

The victim died of injuries sustained during the crash.

The driver, who remained at the scene after the collision, reportedly did not see the pedestrian before impact.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the driver and victim.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.

19-year-old skateboarder fatally struck by car on UCSD campus

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 19-year-old skateboarder was fatally hit by a car after he fell from his board on the UC San Diego campus late last night, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The collision occurred on westbound Voight Drive at about 11:35 p.m., when the 19-year-old fell from his skateboard and onto the roadway.

He was moments later struck by the 20-year-old driver of a Nissan Maxima.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the driver and victim.

Teen driver taken to hospital after colliding with trees, home in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA – A teenage boy was taken to the hospital yesterday after he collided with a house in the Pacific Beach area while allegedly under the influence, according to OnScene.TV.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Ingraham and Yosemite at about 12:15 a.m, when the teenage driver of a BMW lost control of the vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed.

He went across the middle line, then collided with multiple trees and shrubs located in the yard of a home nearby. The BMW then crashed into the house itself, before it rolled over back onto the street, coming to rest upside down.

The victim, whose age and hometown were not immediately released, failed a field sobriety test and will be facing likely charges as a result.

He was taken to the hospital for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The occupants of the home were not reported as injured, though they were unable to safely remain inside the building due to damages from the crash.

Sections of I-8 shut down due to winter weather

SAN DIEGO, CA – Sections of Interstate 8 were closed in both directions due to winter weather conditions in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

According to Caltrans San Diego’s Twitter feed, all I-8 eastbound lanes were closed on Willows Road at about 3 a.m. All westbound lanes were closed at Imperial Highway shortly after.

Both areas were closed due to the snow and icy road conditions. After dawn, California Highway Patrol officers began escorting some drivers through the area but it remained largely blocked off.

Other areas in the county were partially closed due to the winter weather on Tuesday.

Wheel detaches from pickup truck, strikes two vehicles in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, CA – A wheel flew off a woman’s car, then struck the vehicle of an Escondido Police officer, in a San Marcos crash yesterday that left the officer with injuries, according to the Times of San Diego. 

The collision occurred on State Route 78, near Twin Oaks Valley Road, at about 12 p.m., when a wheel came off the back of a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by a 40-year-old woman from Vista.

The wheel flew over to the opposite side of the highway, striking a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, then a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado behind it.

The officer sustained minor injuries during the crash.

The female driver and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 22-year-old Escondido man, were not immediately reported as injured.

It is not clear what caused the wheel to detach from the vehicle.

Authorities are continuing to look into the crash at this time.

Crash reported on Hwy 67 caused partial road closures

POWAY, CA – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported a traffic collision between Lakeside and Poway this morning that had led to road closures.

The accident happened on Highway 67, between Scripps Poway Parkway and Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, at around 8 a.m.

The details of the crash were not made immediately available, though authorities stated that they had closed the southbound lanes of the highway for the investigation.

SDSO advised travelers to avoid the area, as traffic delays were likely.

The roadways were open about an hour later, by 9:04 a.m.

It is unknown if anyone was injured in the crash.

Motorcyclist seriously injured after he falls off embankment near Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, CA – A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after he fell down a steep embankment near Lake Elsinore on Thursday afternoon, according to MyNewsLA.

The accident occurred on the Ortega Highway (Highway 74), near the Tenaja Truck Trail, just before 1 p.m., when a male motorcyclist went off the side of the roadway. He fell down the embankment and was unable to extricate himself.

He was rescued with the use of a hoist system over an hour later, before emergency crews airlifted him to the hospital as a trauma alert.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained a broken leg among other injuries.

Authorities closed both directions of the highway for the rescue operation.

Downed tree and alleged DUI accident lead to road closures in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, CA – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that a possible drunk-driving accident had led to road closures in San Marcos early this morning.

The accident happened near the intersection of N Twin Oaks Valley Road and San Marcos Boulevard, and was reported by authorities at 3:46 a.m.

A vehicle rolled over during the accident, which the SDCSO said involved a drunk driver.

A tree had fallen into the street, leading authorities to close the roadway during the cleanup efforts.

It is unknown if anyone was injured in the collision.

Person airlifted to hospital with severe wounds from late-night Ramona crash

RAMONA, CA – One person was airlifted to the hospital following a head-on collision in Ramona late Saturday night.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, the accident occurred near the intersection of Haverford Road and Highway 78 at 9:08 p.m.

A total of six people were involved in the crash, with one of those being airlifted to the hospital for the treatment of severe injuries.

The remaining five people suffered either minor or no injuries.
