Man crossing street suffers severe injuries from hit-and-run driver in Bay Park

SAN DIEGO, CA – A man crossing the street in Bay Park was severely injured after being struck by a driver who then fled the scene yesterday morning, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

The accident happened in the 3000 block of Clairemont Drive at about 9:15 a.m., when a 59-year-old man reportedly crossed the street mid-block.

He was struck by a woman operating a white vehicle headed southbound. The driver then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital for the treatment of severe, life-threatening injuries, including head trauma. His identity was not immediately released.

The accident remains under investigation.

Crash on SR-78 causes traffic delays and closures in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – A collision on State Route 78 caused traffic delays and lane closures in Escondido this morning, according to Caltrans San Diego.

The accident occurred on eastbound SR-78, near Nordahl Road, at about 8:45 a.m.

The left lanes of the highway were closed as a result of the crash. By 9:43 a.m., the roadway was reopened.

There is no word on the cause of the crash or if anyone was injured.

ESCONDIDO, CA – One person was killed in a crash at an intersection in Escondido yesterday afternoon, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The accident happened at Centre City Parkway and El North Parkway at about 3 p.m., when at least one vehicle crashed.

One person was killed as a result of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation, and the identity of the victim and the cause of the crash were not immediately released.

Rollover accident on I-5 causes traffic delays and lane closures in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA – A rollover accident caused traffic delays and delays on I-5 in the Pacific Beach area yesterday afternoon, according to Caltrans San Diego.

A vehicle crashed and overturned on southbound I-5, near Mission Bay Drive, just before 3 p.m.

The right lane was blocked as a result of the accident.

By 3:45 p.m., the roadway was clear.

It is unclear at this point what led to the crash or if anyone was injured as a result.

At least one person dead after single-car El Cajon accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – At least one person is dead after a single-vehicle accident El Cajon on Wednesday afternoon, according to the CHP incident log.

The accident happened in the in the 1600 block of Palm Canyon Drive at about 2:30 p.m.

At least one person was pronounced dead after the crash.

Elderly driver hospitalized after her SUV crashes down embankment

FALLBROOK, CA – An elderly woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle crashed down an embankment in Fallbrook this afternoon, according to the Times of San Diego.

The accident happened on South Mission Road, near Quail Knoll Road, just before 1 p.m., when a woman’s SUV went over the embankment.

The victim was extricated from the wreckage and pulled back to the roadway by emergency crews. She was taken to the hospital in Escondido for the treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.

Her identity and the cause of the accident are not available at this time.

1 dead, 1 hospitalized after wrong-way crash on I-8 in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, CA – One person is dead, and a driver has been sent to the hospital following a wrong-way collision on I-8 in Lakeside early yesterday morning, according to FOX 5 San Diego and the Times of San Diego.

The crash happened on westbound I-8, near Dunbar Lane, at about 2 a.m., when at least two vehicles, possibly a sedan and an SUV, collided.

Multiple other vehicles crashed into debris that was strewn onto the roadway from the crash.

One person died as a result of the accident.

The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with severe, life-threatening wounds.

Authorities did not immediately identify the victims.

The crash happened after reports of a car driving recklessly and swerving between lanes while headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

The westbound lanes of I-8 were closed for multiple hours following the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.

Pedestrian dead, driver facing charges after fatal Del Mar Heights hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO, CA – A man was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Del Mar Heights yesterday afternoon, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

The crash happened on Del Mar Heights Road, near Crest Canyon Park, at about 2:15 p.m., when a man attempted to cross the street mid-block.

He was struck by the driver of a 2004 Saturn Vue who then fled the scene.

The victim, who has not been publicly identified pending family notification, was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

50-year-old Raul Garcia is suspected to have been the driver. He reportedly pulled over a few blocks from the scene, then returned to the crash after speaking to witnesses.

Garcia was taken into police custody on charges of felony hit-and-run.

2 people hospitalized after multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash in Talmadge

SAN DIEGO, CA – Two people were severely injured after a hit-and-run driver caused a multi-vehicle crash in the Talmadge neighborhood late last night, according to the Times of San Diego.

The accident occurred in the 5100 block of southbound Fairmount Avenue at about 10:20 p.m., when a driver collided with the rear of a 2002 Saturn sedan. The impact caused the Saturn to rotate, and for a person driving a Nissan Altima to collide with the sedan.

The ensuing impact sent both vehicles over the center line and into the northbound lanes. A driver operating a 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan then T-boned the Nissan.

The rear-ending driver fled the scene, and a description of the suspect and vehicle were not immediately available.

The 32-year-old man operating the Nissan was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, including back injuries and head wounds. His passenger also was severely hurt.

Multiple other people sustained minor wounds in the accident.
