San Diego- Auto Theft Suspect Sustained Leg And Head Injuries After Police Chase Ended In A Crash
An auto theft suspect sustained minor leg and head injuries when he was injured after a police chase ended in a crash early Tuesday morning, October 1, 2019. The suspect reportedly crashed a suspected stolen pickup truck that he was driving after leading police on a short chase in an Oak Park-area-cul-de-sac, and afterwards, failing when he tried to escape on foot. The 42-year old male suspect reportedly refused to pull over when officers attempted to stop him on Euclid Avenue, close to Federal Boulevard a few minutes after 3:30 am. The suspected stolen vehicle that the suspect was driving had a passenger in it. The suspect sped off to the north, travelling the wrong way on Euclid Avenue for a time, before merging onto Chollas Road, and continuing on to the west and south, After escaping from officers for approximately 5 minutes, the suspect lost control of the pickup truck, and crashed the vehicle through a residential fence on the 5100 block of Palm Street. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and ran off. However, officers were able to detain him after chasing after him when he tried to escape on foot after the crash. The passenger in the suspected stolen vehicle was not injured.
