Police chase leads to standoff on roof
SAN DIEGO, CA – A man was arrested after he led officers on a chase, crashed his car, and then hid on a roof, Monday morning reports 10 News San Diego.
When officers attempted to stop a Kia at around 12:20 a.m. on Monday, the driver sped away. Officers followed the vehicle and observed the suspect driving recklessly.
The driver later crashed into a pole on Marilou Road, then ran from the vehicle on foot through backyards, fences, and finally a roof on Brookline Street.
The suspect refused to come down until officers put away their weapons. A local fire crew was called to the scene to offer a ladder. The stand-off lasted for 45 minutes before he finally surrendered.
Officers believe the suspect was driving under the influence. The man will also be charged with felony evasion.
