Police charge two men, seek one after I-5 accident leads to meth discovery
SAN DIEGO, CA – Three men, with one of them still wanted by police, were involved in an accident on Interstate 5 this morning that led authorities to discover a stash of methamphetamine, according to an article by Fox 5 San Diego.
The accident happened around 5:20 a.m. on I-5, near La Jolla Parkway, when a rented SUV hit a wall on the right shoulder of the freeway. The vehicle then traveled across all traffic lanes to crash again into the median.
The driver ran out of the vehicle and across the highway, fleeing the scene. He has not been located at this time and is still wanted by the police.
Police discovered multiple backpacks full of meth in the SUV.
One of the passengers was experiencing an overdose when the accident happened, according to the article, and has been taken to the hospital.
The second passenger said he had given Narcan, a drug used to combat opioid overdose, to the other passenger. He was arrested at the scene.
The two passengers will face charges.
