Plane crash at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport
SAN DIEGO, CA – A pilot attempting to land at Montgomery-Gibbs Airport somersaulted on his approach and crashed on the runway, reports Fox 5 San Diego
The plane in question is a single-engine Cessna 185. Its pilot was preparing to land around 1:30 p.m. It is unknown what caused the plane to overturn while landing.
The pilot was unhurt when the plane landed on its roof. The San Diego Fire Department reported to the accident and stayed on the scene as a precaution.
When a plane crashes, the Federal Aviation Administration launches an investigation. That investigation remains ongoing at this time.
