One person dead, another injured on I-15
SAN DIEGO, CA – One person was killed and another seriously injured in Interstate 15 on Monday night outside of the San Diego.
According to the Times of San Diego, the solo vehicle crash happened in the northbound lanes south of Gopher Canyon Road at about 12:30 a.m. A Lexus ES 350 carrying two 21-year-olds left the highway at a high speed, went across the median, and up the embankment along the freeway. The vehicle struck a guardrail at the top of the embankment then rolled back down the hill.
The driver was ejected as the car turned side-over-side. The Riverside County man was transported from the scene at pronounced dead at Palomar Medical Center. The passenger was also transported from the scene and treated for serious injuries.
Neither occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol may also have played a roll in the incident.
