Multiple-car collision reported on I-805 south
SAN DIEGO, CA – The California Highway Patrol reports that a multi-car collision took place on I-805 southbound at 6:17 p.m. this evening. The pileup began when a cream-colored truck lost control and hit the center divider.
Four other vehicles crashed after the initial collision. Debris on the roadway may have been a contributing factor.
Smoke was seen billowing out of one of the crashed vehicles and the fire department was called to the scene.
An ambulance transported one driver to the hospital with a leg injury. Other individuals sustained minor injuries.
Damage to the vehicles was considerable, and several tow trucks were required to clear the incident.
The SDFD shut down one lane of the freeway to avoid any further accidents. Officers are currently investigating the accident and more information will be provided should it become available.
