Motorhome fire catches vegetation along I-8
SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorhome fire turned into a vegetation fire on Interstate 8 westbound in the Las Terrenitos area on Wednesday morning.
According to the San Diego County Fire Department, a 37-foot motorhome caught fire and spread to the vegetation along I-8 west near Japatul Valley Road in the mid-morning.
A County fire company, along with personnel and a truck from the Cleveland National Forest, stopped the fire at a quarter of an acre. However, drivers were asked to avoid the area as the firefighting and cleanup were blocking part of the westbound lanes. Clean up continued into the evening on Wednesday.
It is unclear what caused the motorhome to catch fire.
