Motorcyclist escapes accident on I-5 after mean prank

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcyclist was injured in what is being described as a mean “prank” on Interstate 5 in San Diego on Tuesday morning.

According to CBS 8 local news, Servando Lopez was driving home just before noon on I-5 near I-15 when someone rolled a tire into the road in front of him causing him to crash in the travel lanes.

With the help of passersby and drivers who stopped, he was able to safely get out of the freeway lanes.

Witnesses spotted a man who rolled the tire into the road, although Lopez was not able to catch the culprits on the video recorder he happened to have on his helmet.

Lopez is thankful for his helmet and jacket that helped him survive without serious injury.

His bike was towed from the scene.

State troopers were unable to find the man, who was wearing a light grey shirt, who rolled the tire into the road.

Motorcyclist hospitalized after teen driver makes U-turn on Montezuma

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcyclist was injured after a 19-year-old driver made a U-turn in the Mid-City area yesterday morning, according to the Times of San Diego.

The accident occurred in the 5700 block of Montezuma Road at 6:37 a.m., when the 19-year-old driver of a 1997 Honda sedan made a U-turn across the westbound lanes.

A 45-year-old motorcyclist headed westbound on Montezuma then collided with the front of the sedan.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after sustaining a fractured tibia.

The accident remains under investigation.

Motorcyclist injured in crash at El Cajon intersection

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after crashing with a car at an El Cajon intersection on Tuesday afternoon, according to CHP.

The motorcycle and car collided on Old Julian Highway at Creek Hollow Road at about 4:45 p.m.

The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries in the crash. An AMA ambulance transported the victim to a local hospital. The other driver was not injured.

Motorcyclist injured in single-vehicle accident

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcycle rider sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident on an interstate ramp in San Diego on Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, the motorcyclist was headed from I-5 north to SR-75 south at about 6 a.m. The rider lost control and went down on the connector ramp.

The ramp was partially blocked, as well as the righthand main lane.

Thankfully, the rider escaped serious injury.

Crash involving motorcycle blocks I-5 lane

SAN DIEGO, CA – A lane was blocked on Interstate 5 after a traffic collision involving a motorcycle on Monday afternoon.

According to Caltrans San Diego, the accident happened in the northbound lanes before Sassafras Street at about 3:30 p.m. A motorcycle was involved in the accident.

The left lane was blocked off for a time by emergency vehicles. Traffic was heavy throughout the area.

There is no word on the condition of the motorcyclist or any other involved parties.

Motorcyclist seriously injured by crash in Lake Elsinore

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcycle rider was seriously injured when he struck a tree near State Route 74 in Lake Elsinore on Sunday morning.

According to CHP, the rider was on Rocky Road near SR-74 traveling with other motorcyclists when he crashed off the road into a tree at about 9:30 a.m. A witness also reported that the victim had been driving recklessly before the crash happened.

The victim was transported to area hospital with serious injuries. An update on his condition is not available.

The motorcycle was 40 or 50 feet off the road and a tow with a cable was requested to retrieve the vehicle.

Update: Motorcyclist killed in I-5 Bay Park crash identified

SAN DIEGO, CA – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died after an accident on Interstate 5 in the Bay Park area on Saturday evening.

According to the Times of San Diego, the 42-year-old motorcycle rider was northbound on his Harley-Davidson when they lost control near Garnet Avenue at about 5:45 p.m. His bike went up the embankment and ejected the rider.

The victim was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla but was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts proved ineffective.

He has been identified as Kristopher Bush.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and it is unclear why Bush lost control.

Motorcyclist killed in apparent solo-vehicle crash on I-5

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcyclist was killed in what appears to be a solo-vehicle accident on I-5 yesterday evening, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

Authorities responded at about 5:45 p.m. to the crash on northbound I-5, near the Mission Bay Golf Course and Balboa Avenue.

The motorcycle was found in the right lane, with the operator, who was not immediately identified, found dead on the shoulder.

It is unclear what led to the crash at this point.

Authorities closed two lanes for a short time as they worked the crash, with all lanes open again by 6:35 p.m.

Motorcyclist dead after being pinned in Otay Mesa crash

SAN DIEGO, CA – A motorcyclist died in an accident in Otay Mesa after becoming trapped underneath another crashed vehicle on Thursday evening.

According to Fox News San Diego, the motorcyclist was involved in a crash near the intersection of Datsun Street and Otay Valley Road at about 6 p.m. The rider got trapped under another involved car that was partially pinned by a third vehicle.

The victim died at the scene.

No one else was injured.

Local authorities are still investigating the accident.

42-year-old motorcyclist killed by pickup truck in Otay Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 42-year-old motorcyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck in a crash at an Otay Mesa intersection at about noon on Thursday.

According to local Fox News, the rider had stopped his Honda Cargo 150 for a red light at the corner of Cactus Road and Otay Mesa Road at about noon. He was struck from behind by a westbound 2008 Ford F-150.

The victim was taken to a Scripps Mercy Hospital and was pronounced dead. The victim’s name had not been released.

The pickup truck driver, a 71-year-old, has not been cited or charged at this time.
