Medical emergency leads to reckless driving, multi-car crash
SAN DIEGO, CA – A vehicle was rushing down Interstate 15 because of a medical emergency when the driver lost control in Temecula on Monday.
According to CHP, a small silver sedan was hitting speeds of over 100 MPH and weaving around traffic on southbound Interstate 15 when the driver lost control near Bundy Canyon Road at about 11:30 a.m. The vehicle had struck several other vehicles, including one that overturned. The suspect’s vehicle was spun around in the accident and they left the scene going the wrong way as the occupant was struggling with a medical emergency.
The overturned vehicle began to smoke and then caught fire. One person was out of the vehicle and people on the scene were able to extricate the second occupant.
Traffic quickly backed up behind that accident scene, which was blocking several lanes. All lanes were reopened about an hour after the crash.
An ambulance responded to the scene but no one was injured in the accident.
