A 17-year-old San Bernardino girl sustained critical injuries in a serious hit-and-run motorcycle crash that took place on March 13, 2012, around 7:20 p.m. across E Street. According to Lt. David Harp, the girl was hit by a Japanese sports bike while she skateboarded across the street.
The biker took off after the accident. Witnesses told San Bernardino police that the motorcycle was traveling 65-70 mph when it struck the girl at 31st and E streets. The victim is currently on a respirator.
The motorcyclist in this case violated California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) law which states that : “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”
The victim’s family members should immediately seek counsel from an experienced San Bernardino hit and run accident lawyer who would educate them about their legal rights.
The victim’s family members may file a personal injury claim against the negligent motorcyclist to obtain compensation to cover cost of treatment and other related damages.
Our personal injury law office hopes that the injuries suffered by the teenager heal soon and do not prove fatal.
