18-year-old Lance Cpl. Dominic Nop, a Marine, was killed in a tragic car accident that occurred on December 16, 2011, around 2:15 a.m. on Twentynine Palms Highway. According to San Bernardino County coroner’s office, Nop was a passenger in a yellow 2006 Nissan sedan that veered off the road and hit the utility pole.
Nop suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The driver and two other passengers also suffered injuries and were taken to nearby hospital for treatment. Major Accident Investigation Team is trying to determine what caused this fatal crash.
If it is found that the sedan driver was speeding or driving negligently, then he may be held liable for this accident. Meanwhile, the Marine’s family members should immediately seek counsel from an experienced San Bernardino County car accident lawyer who would educate them about their legal rights.
The victim’s family members may file a wrongful death claim against the sedan driver to obtain compensation to funeral and burial costs, loss of anticipated earnings, loss of love, care and companionship, and other accident-related damages.
Our personal injury law office sends sincere condolences to Nop’s family members.
