Elderly man killed by hit-and-run driver in Chula Vista
SAN DIEGO, CA – An 85-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in an accident in Chula Vista on Sunday evening.
According to Fox News San Diego, the victim was found on the ground near the intersection at Del Rey Boulevard and East H Street at about 6:30 p.m. An investigation determined that the elderly man was making his way across East H Street when he tripped. A dark-colored Toyota sedan from between the years 2015 to 2018 then struck the victim and did not stop.
Paramedics were unable to save the victim, despite initiating life-saving treatments. His identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.
Police are asking any witnesses to contact the authorities as they continue their efforts to find the driver.
