Car fire sparks brush fire in Oceanside
SAN DIEGO, CA – A brush fire spread up an Oceanside hill after a car accident sparked a vehicle fire on Interstate 5 early on Tuesday morning.
According to CHP, an unknown number of vehicles were involved in a crash that happened on the southbound freeway in the area south of the San Onofre State Beach about 3:25 a.m. At least one vehicle caught fire and quickly became engulfed. The fire quickly began to pop and then spread up the hill. It took over an hour for firefighters to put the flames out.
The driver of the vehicle was able to exit the vehicle and walked away uninjured.
