Burning truck catches fire on I-5 in Del Mar Heights area
SAN DIEGO, CA – An Interstate 5 exit ramp was closed in the Del Mar Heights area after a tractor and trailer caught fire on Monday morning.
According to Caltrans San Diego, the incident was reported in the southbound lanes at the exit to Del Mar Heights Road shortly before 7 a.m.
The area was closed for about an hour while firefighters knocked back the flames and the scene was cleared.
It is unclear whether the truck driver was able to escape the vehicle without injury. We will update this story should more information be released.
