Bicyclist struck and killed by car in El Cajon
SAN DIEGO, CA – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car while riding his electric bike on a rural road in El Cajon on Wednesday evening.
According to local Fox News, the 32-year-old man was struck by an SUV from behind while riding his Electra Townie bike on Willow Glen Drive. The accident happened near the intersection with Dehesa Road at about 7:20 p.m. The driver was going eastbound about 45 mph when their vehicle veered toward and hit the bicyclist.
The bicyclist, a La Mesa resident, was not wearing a helmet. He was ejected from the bike and died at the scene. His identity is being withheld until authorities can notify his family.
The driver remained on the scene. Alcohol is not believed to have factored in the accident, however, the investigation is ongoing.
