56-year-old woman injured in DUI accident
SAN DIEGO, CA – A 56-year-old woman was critically injured in a suspected DUI crash last night in Clairemont. According to NBC San Diego, police arrived on scene at the 5000 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard at around 7:00 p.m.
The woman was making a lefthand turn onto Longford Drive when her 2018 Honda CRV was struck by a 1999 Dodge Dakota truck. The 44-year-old male driver of the truck had failed to stop at a red light and drove straight into the Honda.
Emergency responders report that the woman suffered internal bleeding, bowel injuries, and multiple fractures to her back. The driver of the truck was also injured, suffering a fractured femur. Both individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
San Diego Police arrested the 44-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence.
