New Documentary Movie "Hot Coffee" Takes the Tort Reform Myths About the McDonald's Coffee Case to Task and Completes the Real Picture of What Happened.
A new documentary motion picture, "Hot Coffee", tells the whole story about what happened to Stella Liebeck, the woman from Albuquerque, NM who spilled coffee on her lap after going through a McDonald's drive through and sued McDonald's. For years, the insurance industry, major corporations, and tort reformers have been criticizing the case and ridiculing it for their own purposes to lower personal injury awards and limit the recovery of those legitimately injured in a variety of injury accidents. In the process, Ms. Liebeck has been vilified and had a ridiculous lawsuit award, "The Stella Awards", named after her.
