Jim Grant was injured in a pit bull attack that took place on June 12 in Ocean Beach while he was walking on the boardwalk. Grant said that an unleashed pit bull ran up to him and bit him in the forearm, according to 10 News. Luckily, he was able to fight off the dog by kneeing it in the chest several times.
Grant said the dog’s owner was standing nearby and witnessed the incident but did not try to help. Once he saw Grant grab his phone to call police, the dog owner quickly grabbed his dog, put the dog in his vehicle, and sped out of the parking lot.
Lifeguards responding to this pit bull attack and treated the injured victim at the scene for the injuries suffered. Luckily, the bite on his arm was not severe enough to cause an infection.

California’s Civil Code Section 3342 states: “The owner of any dog is liable for the damages suffered by any person who is bitten by the dog while in a public place or lawfully in a private place, including the property of the owner of the dog, regardless of the former viciousness of the dog or the owner’s knowledge of such viciousness.”
