A 4-year-old girl suffered serious injuries in a suspected DUI car wreck that occurred on August 27‚ 2011‚ around 7:15 a.m. along Fairmont Avenue in Talmadge. According to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali‚ the car driver struck a curb while merging onto Fairmont Avenue from Aldine Drive in Kensington. The SUV contained the driver‚ a 23-year-old passenger‚ and two children‚ ages 4 and 2.
The motorist overcorrected his Ford Explorer‚ causing it to roll several times. The impact of the collision was so strong that the 4-year-old girl‚ who was only restrained by a seatbelt‚ was thrown out of the car. The young girl suffered serious lacerations and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A 23-year-old female passenger also suffered an abrasion to her right arm. The motorist escaped unhurt in this car wreck. San Diego Police Officers later arrested the motorist on suspicion of felony drunken driving.
