An unidentified 63-year-old driver crashed a school bus outside a Rancho Penasquitos elementary school on Tuesday‚ May 10‚ 2011‚ around 1:30 p.m. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department‚ the bus driver lost control of the vehicle collided with several cars‚ trees and then drove into a home after crossing Russet Leaf Lane.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque said that the Poway Unified School District vehicle veered onto a nearby embankment‚ struck two small trees‚ hit a parked car with a woman and her young daughter in it in front of Deer Canyon Elementary School and then crashed into the closed garage of an unoccupied home.
Fortunately the mother and her daughter escaped unhurt in this serious bus accident. The bus driver‚ however‚ suffered minor pains and bruises and was immediately transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment. From the available information‚ it is unclear what made the bus driver lose control of the vehicle and smash it into the house.
