According to California Highway Patrol Officer Chris Parent‚ Burns swerved his vehicle to avoid hitting the young lady‚ but could not. After hitting the pedestrian‚ Burns left the car near the valley Center Road and fled from the accident scene along with his passengers. Burns was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The family of the deceased can seek compensation to cover funeral and burial costs‚ loss of anticipated earnings‚ loss of love‚ care and companionship‚ and other accident-related damages from the Ford driver.
