IndyCar Driver Dan Wheldon Dies in Fiery Car Accident

IndyCar Driver Dan Wheldon was killed after his car crashed‚ causing a massive 15-car pile-up during the Las Vegas Indy 300 on Sunday‚ October 16‚ 2011.

The 33-year-old hit another car during Lap 15‚ which sent his car into the air. Then‚ he caught part of the catch fence just outside of Turn 2.  Medics rushed toward the fiery scene‚ but the driver could not be saved. Wheldon died from unsurvivable injuries.
