Father and Daughter Hurt in Serra Mesa Pedestrian Accident

A 35-year-old man and his 5-year-old daughter suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident that occurred on Decembe 8, 2011, in Serra Mesa. According to San Diego Police Sgt. Art Doherty, both father and daughter were crossing Ruffin Road when they were hit by a red pickup. The two were walking in a dark section of the street to the mother’s house when they were hit.

Medics immediately transported the father to Mercy Hospital to receive treatment for multiple broken bones in his left leg and a brain bleed. The young girl also suffered a broken jaw and was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital for medical treatment. From the present information, it is unclear what caused this major truck accident that left two people severely injured. The man driving the truck said he did not see the pedestrians. If there was proper street light, the possibility of avoiding the hit could have reduced.

Since it was a pedestrian accident, the motorist’s negligence or authorities responsible for maintenance of the road may be held responsible for the accident.
