Two people suffered serious injuries in a severe car accident that occurred on December 13, 2011, around 7 p.m. on state Route 67 (SR-67) about a half-mile south of Poway Road. According to San Diego County sheriff’s Deputy Mark Karo, a man driving a large passenger van got distracted and drifted into southbound lanes, sideswiping a trailer-towing truck. As the motorist swerved back into his lane, the van struck the right front end of a sedan headed south.
The driver of the sedan and a passenger suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The van driver was taken to the hospital but released shortly after. From the available information, it is appears that negligent and distracted driving of the van driver contributed to this serious multiple vehicle collision.
