51-year-old Duane Glaser was fatally struck in a San Diego van crash that occurred on June 25‚ 2011‚ around 9 p.m. near West Point Loma and Sports Arena boulevards. According to San Diego Police Sgt. Jorge Leon‚ the driver had stopped at the red light and was preparing to turn right into Midway Street. At that same time‚ Glaser entered into the intersection in front of the van and was hit.
Police interviewed the 60-year-old van driver and ruled that he was not driving recklessly or under the influence of drugs.
Residents believe that particular intersection is especially dangerous and say that the city needs to increase the amount of time they give pedestrians to cross this intersection.

15 years after the incident‚ the McDonald’s coffee case continues to be criticized and cited as an example of how an average citizen used a "frivolous" lawsuit to take advantage of America’s legal system. However‚ that story is far from the truth.
Director-producer Saladoff‚ who spent 25 years practicing law in the civil justice system representing victims of individual and corporate negligence‚ challenges the long-held belief that average citizens can take unfair advantage of the American legal system with their frivolous lawsuits that lead to "jackpot justice."
In her documentary film Hot Coffee‚ which premieres on HBO tonight at 6 p.m. PST‚ viewers find out what really happened in the infamous "McDonald’s hot coffee" lawsuit. The movie looks at what actually happened to Stella Liebeck‚ why the case got so much media attention‚ who funded the effort‚ and who really profited from spilling hot coffee.
Hot Coffee is a "call to action." The documentary takes a look at four cases that show how Americans are surrendering their Constitutional rights in all sorts of ways without even knowing it and how they are being screwed by the system-not taking advantage of it. By voting for caps on damages or agreeing to mandatory arbitration embedded in the fine print of contracts‚ Americans are giving up our fundamental right to access the legal system and not getting the compensation they need and deserve.
If you or someone you love has been injured or killed because of a defective product or negligent person‚ you are entitled to damages. The California personal injury attorneys at the Jurewitz Law Group will protect your Constitutional rights and get the money you need to cover medical costs‚ lost wages‚ and all other accident-related expenses.

An unidentified motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a Santa Ana motorcycle crash that occurred on the afternoon of June 21‚ 2011‚ on East First and Maple Street. According to the Santa Ana Police Department‚ a Toyota Highlander going north on Maple Street struck motorcyclist‚ who was travelling east.
The injured biker was immediately transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Now‚ the investigating officers need to determine what made the SUV driver hit the motorcyclist. Who had the right of way? Did the Highlander stop at the intersection? Did anyone run the stop sign? These and several other questions are still unanswered.
California law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and proceed with caution. According to California Vehicle Code section 21802 (a): "The driver of any vehicle approaching a stop sign at the entrance to‚ or within‚ an intersection shall stop as required by Section 22450. The driver shall then yield the right-of-way to any vehicles which have approached from another highway‚ or which are approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard‚ and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to those vehicles until he or she can proceed with reasonable safety."
The injured motorcyclist should consult with a dedicated Orange County motorcycle accident lawyer who would assure that the at-fault party is apprehended and brought to justice. A motorcyclist injury lawyer can help the victim obtain compensation to cover treatment‚ medical and hospital costs‚ loss of wages‚ loss of earning capacity‚ and other accident-related expenses.

52-year-old San Ysidro resident Richard Gonzalez was struck and killed in a San Diego County workplace accident that occurred on June 20‚ 2011‚ around 9 a.m. on northbound state Route 15 (SR-15) near the ramp to eastbound state Route 94 (SR-94). According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officers‚ the Caltrans worker was crossing the street to pick up trash when he was hit by a white 1990 Cadillac de Ville driven by 27-year-old San Diego native Luis Cruz.
Cruz tried to steer clear of Gonzalez but could not avoid the collision. The Caltrans worker was struck fatally. Officers arrested the driver with suspicions of a DUI‚ but Cruz passed his sobriety test and was not under the influence. Now the investigating officers need to determine what made the driver strike Gonzalez. We are still unsure if Cruz was speeding‚ on the cell phone driving recklessly‚ or distracted.
Gonzalez’s death is the third Caltrans fatality in the past seven weeks. This is a reminder that highway work is one of the most dangerous occupations and that drivers need to be especially careful around coned areas and construction work zones.
If it is found that Cruz was driving recklessly‚ then he will be held liable for Gonzalez’s wrongful death. Gonzalez’s employer may also be held responsible if he failed to implement the correct safety precautions. In the meantime‚ Gonzalez’s family members should seek counsel from a San Diego County car accident lawyer to know about their legal rights and options. A California construction site injury attorney will assist them in obtaining timely and fair compensation to cover funeral and burial costs‚ loss of love‚ care and companionship‚ and other accident-related damages.
Our law office offers sincere condolences to all those who knew and loved Gonzalez for such a shocking and disturbing loss.

Hip-hop singer Sean Kingston and his female passenger were critically injured after he crashed his personal watercraft (PWC) into a Miami Beach bridge around 6 p.m. on Sunday‚ May 29‚ 2011.
Luckily‚ a passer-by saw the accident and saved the pair‚ who was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The female passenger suffered minor injuries while Kingston was being treated in the trauma ward. Though authorities do not believe alcohol played a role in the incident the female passenger told reporters that they were speeding when they collided into the Palm Island Bridge‚ which connects Palm Island with the MacArthur Causeway.
With the ability to reach speeds of up to 90 mph‚ personal watercraft (PWC) accidents are one of the most common types of injuries out on the water. What most beginners don’t understand about jet skis is that the braking system is completely different than what they are used to. For example‚ when you drive a car or boat‚ you would typically brake when you approach a turn.‚ right?
PWCs are completely different. Instead‚ you have to speed up and gradually turn to avoid the obstacle. You can imagine that if you are going 50‚ 60‚ or even 70 mph on a jet ski‚ it’s going to be pretty difficult to make smooth turns. In addition‚ states pass strict laws regulating speeds on open water‚ especially when there are other boats or swimmers nearby.
In this case‚ Kingston’s passenger should immediately contact a Miami jet ski accident attorney and file a claim
against the reggae star for his reckless driving. The passenger is entitled to receive money damages to cover her medical costs and lost wages.

A 40-year-old Pomona man was killed in a San Bernardino County car accident that occurred on June 16‚ 2011‚ around 2:15 p.m. along Highway 60 (US-60) in Chino. According to California Highway Patrol officers‚ the Pomona motorist rear-ended a 2007 Ford that was moving about 5 mph with its hazard lights flashing because of a flat rear tire. He was going 70 mph.
The Pomona motorist was immediately transported to Chino Valley Medical Center‚ where he was pronounced dead later around 3:04 p.m. Fortunately‚ the Ford driver did not suffer any injuries in this serious crash. Now‚ the investigating officers have a tough investigation ahead. Was the Ford in the correct lane? If the Ford driver was in the fast lane‚ he could be held responsible for the crash. There could be other contributing factors that may be revealed only after a detailed investigation.
Regardless of the cause‚ the victim’s family members should seek counsel from a San Bernardino County freeway accident lawyer to learn about their legal rights and options.
Our personal injury law office gives sincere condolences to all those knew and loved the victim for such a tragic loss.

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and two unidentified passengers died in a fiery Pennsylvania DUI car accident earlier this morning. The crash happened around 3 a.m. at Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen township. Cops found his Porsche 911 GT3 engulfed in flames.
Hours before‚ the 34-year-old tweeted a picture of himself drinking with his friends at Barnaby’s of America in West Chester. Though is unclear how drunk Dunn may have been after leaving the bar‚ it is still a leading factor in the investigation.
The bar’s manager Jim O’Brien told reporters that the star had only "a couple Coronas," unlike what TMZ said. "Ryan wasn’t one of those wild guys you would see on ‘Jackass,’ O’Brien continued. "We would have stopped him if he had too many drinks."
Though‚ even "a couple Coronas" can add up. What happened to Dunn was a tragic event. However‚ it comes at no surprise that a celebrity‚ who made his career from performing dumb stunts and pranks‚ is a victim of a DUI crash.
Because the car was charred to a crisp‚ police are still unsure who was driving the vehicle‚ if the driver was speeding‚ or if there was another car involved. The victims’ families need to contact a DUI accident attorney immediately to conduct a full investigation into the cause of these wrongful deaths. An attorney will also work to get compensation for the victims’ medical expenses‚ funeral costs‚ lost wages‚ and loss of companionship.
Ross Jurewitz is a California DUI accident lawyer and managing attorney of the Jurewitz Law Group in San Diego. Ten people suffered minor to major injuries in a San Clemente multiple-car accident that occurred on the afternoon of June 15‚ 2011‚ on Interstate 5 (I-5). According to CHP‚ a Dodge driver travelling north near Avenida Pico rear-ended a Nissan traveling ahead of him in the fast lane. The impact of the collision was so strong that the Nissan moved into the next lane‚ where it struck a Mercedes-Benz.
All six occupants in Nissan were immediately transported to Mission Hospital for treatment. All the four occupants in the Dodge‚ driven by a 43-year-old man were taken to UCI Medical Center. Fortunately‚ there were no fatalities in this high-speed crash.
From the available information‚ it appears that the Dodge driver is responsible for causing this pile-up. He failed to brake when traffic began to slow down. If the investigating officers find that a traffic violation occurred or that the Dodge driver was speeding‚ then he might be held liable for the injuries suffered by all the victims.
The injured victims should consult with an experienced Orange County traffic accident attorney to learn about their legal rights and options. A car crash lawyer will also help the victims obtain a fair and timely compensation to cover treatment‚ hospital and medical costs‚ loss of wages‚ loss of earning capacity‚ and other accident-related expenses.
